In commemoration of Youth Day, Young OUT Here, together with 8 other LGBTQ youth groups, have come together to pen this Youth Day message to LGBTQ youths in Singapore. Happy Youth Day and let’s work together for a more inclusive Singapore!
2015 marks the 5th year of Pink Dot in Singapore and also 10 years of YOH since our humble beginnings as an idea! To celebrate our milestone alongside this joyous event, the team has put together a psychedelic, LED-lit exhibition on the Story of YOH (so far). Starting from our initial support group to our expansion over the years into events, workshops and collaborations with other organisations, the story of YOH has spanned a decade of LGBTQ volunteerism and positively impacted the many youths that we have been privileged to engage with.
After this long journey, the perennial question that comes to mind is “what’s next for YOH?” This question on how to better serve the needs of Singapore’s LGBTQ youths is something that we often grapple with. This time, we have called upon fellow PinkDot attendees to help us brainstorm and provide suggestions on how we can go even further! In exchange for their two cent’s worth, YOH goodie bags filled with neon-pink Sticky candy were given away as a gesture of thanks. With the responses received, we will be sure to absorb all your fresh ideas to improve ourselves.
Once again, we would like to thank everyone for their support for the past 10 years. Our achievements would not have been possible without the assistance and charity of many well-meaning groups and individuals. Here’s to another 10 years of amazing growth!More photos!
